Julia Vallera, Thomas Bosket and Parts and Labor Gallery created a temporary installation on Oct 19th 2009. It was an experiment in perception and interpretation. Participants were asked to consider the following questions:
How do you describe an object or situation to another person?
What do you choose to edit and why? How is your description interpreted by someone else?
How is that information transformed into verbal communications and visual associations?
The installation took place in 4 hours. Participants entered a truck and were randomly assigned to a station. Two people at each station proceeded to describe and/or interpret what was being described through drawing, writing and color. It was open to anyone and everyone. Having art and writing skills was not necessary. About 60 people participated and even more stopped by to check it out. It was a productive, fun afternoon. Thanks to all the participants and the Parts and Labor Gallery for making this possible.
